Batteries Plus Gets Charged Up with Cactus Commerce and the Microsoft Technology Platform
Nation’s leader in retail battery sales chooses Microsoft Gold Certified Systems Integrator to streamline its supply chain with Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006
OTTAWA, ON and NEW YORK, NY – January 15, 2007 – Cactus Commerce Inc., a provider of software and services for e-business, today announced that it has been chosen by Batteries Plus to help streamline back-end systems and improve supply chain efficiencies by integrating and automating business processes.
A single-source supplier of national and control brands, custom built battery packs and battery-related products, Batteries Plus serves the replacement battery market through its national franchise store operations as well as through its e-commerce website. Continual growth and success for this retailer meant that the manual processes and disparate systems, which worked well on a smaller scale, needed to be addressed with a new approach around Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) in order to meet the increasing scope and demands of the growing organization.
“We need a back-end integration solution that will scale with our business and continue to support it in the long run,” says Michael J. Lehman, Chief Information Officer, Batteries Plus, “Cactus offers a scalable, easily deployable solution built on the Microsoft technology platform that offers lowest total cost of ownership by moving our disparate systems onto a single, integrated platform.”
“BizTalk Server automates manual processes with a combination of orchestration and business rules, generating valuable business performance insight and information,” says Jean-Yves Martineau, CTO and Founder of Cactus Commerce, “By identifying, in real-time, fulfillment capacity and any bottlenecks in the fulfillment process, Batteries Plus is now able to better streamline their supply chain.”
“Retailers have a growing need for increased efficiency, improved accuracy and real-time visibility of product movement throughout their supply chains,” said David Gruehn, industry solutions director for Microsoft’s U.S. Retail and Hospitality Industry Group. “It is exciting to see how Cactus Commerce is helping retailers like Batteries Plus unify their back-end IT systems into one seamless process engine that serves as the foundation for enhanced supply chain efficiency.”
Cactus Commerce delivers solutions for the retail industry as part of the Microsoft Smarter Retailing initiative, a framework designed to improve customer service and selling opportunities through solutions that can more easily provide a single, consolidated view of customer and product information whenever and wherever it is needed. Cactus Commerce will be in the Microsoft booth #818 at Retail's BIG Show 2007, NRF’s 96th Annual Convention and Expo in New York, NY where Cactus will be demonstrating Microsoft technology-based offerings for Retail including the Cactus Multi-Channel Retail and Point of Service (POS) solutions that help Retailers Connect, Communicate and Convert on any channel.
