Working with Microsoft partner Cactus Commerce, the hospital rolled out BizTalk Server 2006 to transfer patient health records from MediTech to VARIS. Now, it's able to provide cancer centre staff with up-to-date patient health records and monitor the flow of information between the two systems.
CHEP has announced a new RFID enabled track-and-trace program it plans to pilot with two of its clients: Procter & Gamble Brazil and beauty product company Avon facilities in Brazil…Cactus Commerce is installing and supporting the Microsoft products for the pilot, while IT consulting and software services company Infosys is doing the same for the SAP solution.

After considering as many as 12 solutions featuring both passive and active tags, Freightliner opted to work with Cactus Commerce, a software and services company focused on supply-chain management, enterprise collaboration and integration, and e-commerce, and RFID hardware provider Identec Solutions. Freightliner went with Cactus Commerce and Identec Solutions because the latter's RFID system operated well in the truck-maker's production environment, which includes a lot of heavy metal and "robotic welding that would interfere with a majority of tags and readers," Fleischer says.

Microsoft said the capabilities in the new release of BizTalk Server should enable customers to extend the reach of their business processes. BizTalk Server 2006 R2 will add native support for electronic data interchange (EDI) and AS2, as well as a new set of services for developing and managing radio frequency identification (RFID) solutions.
