THE ROLE:

The e-commerce solutions architect will be responsible for understanding and conveying to various audiences the full breadth of system capabilities, technical architecture, operational functions, and services delivery process needed to develop and deploy e-commerce systems built on Microsoft Commerce Server, Commerce Live, and custom e-commerce application development using Microsoft technologies. 

This role will be responsible for leading Architecture Design Sessions (ADS), project envisioning phases, defining complex solution architectures integrating customer information systems as well as complimentary partner solutions, assisting sales and delivery teams in defining and scoping complex projects, working directly within project delivery teams on key deliverables, and providing technical guidance to both sales and delivery teams.   The main focus of the role will be advancing a potential project from presales stages through to the initial phases of project delivery and then providing checkpoint level oversight or governance in the latter project phases.  The governance function may be in delivered in conjunction with other subject matter experts or alone.  The architect must be able to represent several areas of governance oversight in the areas of security, development frameworks, deployment, operations, and project processes.

The solutions architect must be able to seamlessly bridge the gap between online business vision and IT level technical implementation details that demonstrate the right level of business value to the Cactus customer.  The architect must be able to establish the deep trust relationships very early with customers and then maintain that level of trust throughout the project lifecycle.  The solutions architect must be seen by Cactus customers as a trusted advisor to developing and delivering both business and technical value as it relates to online business.

Background for the role should include industry experience within retail, online businesses, enterprise, or related ISV segments.   The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience as a combination of industry and product development background.   Technical skills should include Microsoft development tools, delivery methodologies, experienced with the overall Microsoft platform, and the Commerce Server product.   Given the high degree of customer facing work, emphasis will be placed on soft skills such as confidence, communications ability, presentation skills, and general business acumen.
This position may require travel of up to 80% and overall billable project utilization of at least 40%.
